About Mrs. McCallie
My name is Amber McCallie. This is my tenth year teaching fourth grade and my eighth year as director of the Extended Day program. I am originally from Illinois and moved to Alabama when I was a teenager. I am a graduate of Arab High School, Snead State Community College, and Athens State University with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I completed my student teaching right here at DAR Elementary. I am so blessed to have been given the opportunity to teach at DAR and I absolutely love it! My husband, Thomas, and I live in Grant and we have two boys: Alex and Case. Alex is a junior at DAR High School and loves to run. He ran the Rocket City Marathon last year and I'm so proud of him! He is also active in Boy Scouts and is working towards completing the requirements to become an Eagle Scout. Case is five and is in the Pre-K program. Case enjoys playing, singing, talking, and getting into everything. We were very excited to welcome a little girl, Finley, to our family in September of 2014. Finley has been busy "toddlering" around, eating table food, and saying "da da"! The kiddos keep us pretty busy! We also have two Shorkie puppies, Cooper and Lucy.In my spare time, I enjoy reading, traveling, scrapbooking, and spending time with my family.
