Dear Parents,

The upheaval and anxiety caused by the pandemic has impacted everyone’s lives more than we could ever have imagined. We know that many of you are juggling the unexpected challenges of your children’s remote learning while caring for families and dealing with the impact of the shutdowns on your own work. We’d like to know how you feel your children’s remote learning is going—for them, and for you. Your input will let us know where we might need to give your children—and you—additional support. And although we hate to think about it, these insights might help us respond effectively should we ever again have to make a similar, sudden transition. Please take a few minutes to express your thoughts by completing THIS SURVEY. If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thank you for your input

Queridos padres,

Dear Students,

How are you doing? Your teachers and principal want to learn how you feel about learning away from school. We’d like you to answer some questions, like how hard or easy it is for you to do your assignments, and what kind of help you might need. Adults or older family members at home can help you. This isn’t a test, and there aren’t any right or wrong answers. We want to know what you really think. Please CLICK HERE to answer the questions.

Thank you!

Dear Parents,

Now that students have been involved in remote learning for some time, we’re interested in finding out how your students in grades 3–5 are feeling about the experience. We’re implementing a survey to gather input from students about the difficulty or ease of completing their assignments, whether they have everything they need, and how we might be able to help them more. Student and Parent Remote Learning Surveys 2 Please help us gather this information by encouraging your student to complete the survey. You can explain the questions or help them think through their answers if they need help. Your child’s answers will be confidential—we’re not tracking students’ responses by name. Please let us know if you have any questions. YOU CAN FIND THE SURVEY HERE

Thank you for your help.

Kindergarten Registration June 11th-12th

Principal's Message

This year is a special year as we welcome Claysville Elementary students, parents, and staff to our school.  This is a positive change as we become a family of learners where excellence in education, responsible citizenship, and patriotic pride is a priority.

We have a new kindergarten teacher Mary Grace Stubblefield, first grade teacher Leah Manning, second grade teacher Ashley Traylor, and third grade teacher Tina Wright. We also have a new special education teacher for grades K - 2 Ellie Brown.

I am very excited about being the principal of DAR Elementary School.  I have many special memories of Kate Duncan Smith DAR School. These special memories include visiting my grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins that lived across the street from the campus.  I attended DAR school beginning in the first grade and graduated in 1983. I participated in various sports including basketball, tennis, and softball. I graduated from Athens State University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education.  I received a Masters and Ed.S in Elementary Education from The University of Alabama, as well as, Administration Degree in Educational Leadership, and Ed.D in Educational Leadership. I taught second grade for 10 years at Claysville and first and second grade for 3 years at DAR Elementary.  I have been a principal at Union Grove Elementary, Sloman Primary School, and Claysville Elementary School.
